events and weather in LA

GM IRL!  Hope you had a fancy and festive art week last week! This week ETH Denver starts on Friday, so prepare for the avalanche of events that start this week. Check out our list for all the side events and also the main ETH Denver website schedule for more details. There's also Telegram chat groups out there to link up with people while you're on site.

I'm hosting a Founder + Investor brunch on the second for ETH Denver - you can sign up here. You can also come by my house for coworking this friday in LA if you're afraid of the cold.

WHAT'S POPPIN IN LA

monday (2/20)

  • Sawtelle Japantown celebration - Start the week off going to Japantown. There's discounted eats, events, and more throughout the week. Bring the flyer with you and get discounts on drinks and dinner. I'm obsessed with Japanese curry - get some and send me a photo.

tuesday (2/21)

  • NFTuesdayLA - Join the weekly NFT meetup on the Eastside LA with Alice Bucknell.

  • Refik Anadol Live Painting Exhibit - The amazing immersive artist just started their exhibit last week. Suffice it to say: "Anadol’s works use algorithms that digest California environmental data—things like real-time weather, images of national parks and wind forecasts over the ocean—and turn them into colorful, swirling video installations."

wednesday (2/22)

thursday (2/23)

Why do people keep booking all their events on Thursdays? Try your best not to have FOMO with everything on Thursday.

friday (2/24)

saturday (2/25)

  • Launch House Garage Sale + BBQ - We're getting rid of a few things at the house (desks, monitors, etc). Stop by if you want to pick something up or hang out with some cool folks for some daytime fun.

  • Arsham Auto Motive at Petersen Automative Museum - Love cars? Check out this new exhibition which takes a philosophical look at cars in society, in addition to checking out the whole museum.

sunday (2/26)

  • Coded: Art Enters the Computer Age - If you're in tech in LA, you can't resist going to Coded, an exhibit that digs into the very beginnings of digital art.

  • Jennifer Chen: No Evil - And then pair Coded with Jennifer Chen's exhibit that looks at the far future of technology and humanity. It makes for a weekend that is as science fiction as you can get.

Check out more events on the IRL website.

WHAT'S COMIN UP

ETH DENVER (Feb 24) is here! Make sure to turn off your stove and pack warm for Denver weather. If you thought California was cold, this Wednesday, Denver is going to hit -5°! So dress really warm and wear your boots! And of course, make sure to join us in ETH Denver!

Reminder that we're building out a nifty feature that basically replaces those ugly and cumbersome spreadsheets of side events at conferences with something that is beautiful and easy to use. Click below for the MVP of that feature, a list of all the side events at ETH Denver that you can easily add to your calendar.
